9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF)

The VCF was created in October 2001 to quickly compensate individuals who suffered physical injuries and families who lost loved ones as a result of the terrorist attacks. The VCF was closed in 2004 and then, in 2011, reopened and expanded to include those who have developed health conditions due to the months-long toxic environmental fallout in the aftermath of the attacks. Compensation covers economic losses such as medical expenses, loss of earnings and benefits, and also noneconomic losses such as pain and suffering.

World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP)

The WTCHP provides medical monitoring, treatment, and health evaluations for downtown workers, residents, students, responders others who developed cancer or breathing/digestive conditions after being present in lower Manhattan at any time during the many months after the attacks. This program specifically addresses the unique physical and mental health needs of 9/11 victims, ensuring they get comprehensive medical care tailored to their individual circumstances.

9/11 Notice Act

The 9/11 Notice Act was created to make sure victims and their families (in particular, anyone who worked in lower Manhattan between 9/11 and May 30, 2002) are aware of their rights and the benefits of lifetime healthcare and cash compensation. It mandates that certain businesses notify their employees about the WTCHP and the VCF, ensuring that affected individuals and their families are empowered with knowledge about their rights and the support systems available to them.
