WTC Health Program Expands on Long Island
If you live on Long Island and are a member of the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP), the treatments, resources, and facilities available to you have significantly expanded and improved.
Stony Brook WTC Wellness Program in Commack
In November 2017, a new WTCHP Clinical Center of Excellence opened in Commack. The center is part of Stony Brook University’s WTC Wellness Program. The WTC Wellness Program includes patient care, research, education and outreach. As a component of the Wellness Program, the WTC Health Program provides health monitoring and personalized medical care for 9/11 responders at clinics in Nassau and Suffolk counties. It is located at Stony Brook Medicine’s new multi-specialty care center at 500 Commack Road.
As Stony Brook Medicine describes their upgraded program:
“The WTC Health Program serves more than 10,000 patients suffering from many WTC-related diseases — including cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and pulmonary conditions — through a collaborative care model that integrates healthcare specialties including pulmonology, radiology, oncology, psychiatry and dermatology.”
Enroll in the WTCHP
If you are a victim, first responder, or recovery worker and you have been diagnosed with cancer or another condition that you believe is related to 9/11 and you haven’t already enrolled in the WTCHP, you should do so immediately. Enrolling in the WTCHP is the first step towards receiving no-cost monitoring and treatment. You can apply by calling 1-888-982-4748 or we invite you to call the 9/11 attorneys at Turley Hansen to assist you.
In order to be enrolled in the program, your condition has to be certified as 9/11-related by a WTCHP physician. Once your condition has been certified, your treatments may be fully covered by the program.
Turley Hansen & Partners is the only law firm in the nation that focuses solely on representing victims and first responders for their 9/11 related illnesses – and our 9/11 lawyers have been there from the beginning. Though the years we have not only recovered millions of dollars in compensation and helped victims get the health care and support they need, we have also been fierce advocates for the legislation that provides such support. We actively and proudly assisted the “Citizens for the Extension of the James Zadroga Act” in passing the reauthorization of the Zadroga Act in 2015, which ensures that benefits, treatment, and compensation to the thousands of individuals and families will continue to be available for those dealing with 9/11-related illnesses and losses.
Since 2001, the WTC lawyers at Turley Hansen & Partners have worked tirelessly to help 9/11 victims, including first responders and recovery workers, get the resources they need and deserve, recovering over $75 million for over 1200 clients from the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund.
